The bench, by craft: every lane carries its guide, its tool and its real clips β muted previews play as you pass.
Pick the craft and the bench hands you its math, its guides and its clips. Everything on this bench comes from the Mandrel Bench app β the stitch yields, the knot crossings, the whip's taper and the bracelet fits, each with its source.

Stitch spacing in millimetres is 25.4 Γ· stitches per inch β 7 SPI is 3.63 mm, the iron's own figure β and small goods run around 3 mm while bags and belts run 4 to 6. Thread wants about spacing Γ· 6 (a rule of thumb, and the app labels it as one), and the thread for a seam runs 2 + 2 Γ thickness Γ SPI for every inch of seam, plus the working ends. Leather weight is 1 oz = 1/64 in, about 0.4 mm.
A Turk's head ties as one cord only when its leads and bights share no factor β gcd(leads, bights) is the cord count β and its crossings are (leads β 1) Γ bights: 3 leads Γ 4 bights gives 8 crossings, the knot 8_18. Row coding over-1-under-1 is the ordinary Turk's head; over-2-under-2 along the cord is the Gaucho; column coding is the herringbone.
The strand width over a core of diameter D wants about 4.6 Γ D in total β the strands sit at about 43Β° to the axis, since 4.6 is 2Ο Γ cos 43Β° β though the rule runs short on thin cores, so the tool can count the lace thickness too. Lace runs 1.6 to 1.8 Γ the plaited length (the app's default 1.7), nylon overlays run 12 to 24 strands, and strands drop in pairs to keep the plait round.
A bracelet, buckle end to buckle end, is the wrist plus Ο Γ the band's thickness plus the fit β most makers add about an inch, and the cobra defaults land within 1/16 in of it; a king cobra's half-inch adds 1 9/16 in. A handle wrap's cord is the helix unwound: length Γ Ο Γ (diameter + its own cord) Γ· cord, generous on purpose because the wrap packs snug.
